A trust is vested when a person (the Settlor) leaves property for another person (the Trustee). The Trustee has an obligation to hold that property on behalf of another person or group of people (the Beneficiaries). Depending on the terms of the Trust Deed between the Trustee and the Settlor, the obligations of each party may vary. In general, however, the Trustee will become the legal owner of the trust property, whereas the beneficiaries will hold the beneficial interest to the property.
