16 FEBRUARY 2018 (SYDNEY): LegalVision has taken 7th place in the Financial Times ranking of high-growth companies in the Asia-Pacific. The innovative and tech-driven NewLaw firm was the only entry from the legal sector in the top 10, and the only Australian legal business to make the top 100. The rankings were compiled by the Financial Times and Statista, and reflect the central role innovative and fast-growing companies play in driving the 21st century economy.

“We’re delighted the Financial Times has recognised LegalVision’s commitment to transform legal services,” said LegalVision CEO Lachlan McKnight. “Our team of lawyers, technologists, marketing mavericks, strategists and operational experts are driven by constant experimentation and change. Many of us are ex-lawyers from top-tier firms, and we’re passionate about delivering legal services more cost-effectively – and in a way that genuinely solves a client’s business problems.”

LegalVision began in 2012 as an online legal documents provider. Though its user-friendly legal documents were well-received, its early users pushed for expansion into legal services, which saw LegalVision evolve into an online marketplace. By 2014, LegalVision established an incorporated legal practice, offering legal services directly to clients in its own right. It now provides legal services to fast-growing startups, SMEs and large corporates.

Rankings were determined by percentage growth in revenue between 2013 and 2016. Of the cities included in the rankings, Tokyo took top place for most companies featured on the list (134), while Sydney came in at 52. Technology companies led the way, followed by industrial goods and healthcare.

“LegalVision stands apart from other law firms, leading the way through our active incorporation of technology and adaptability,” said McKnight. “We are honoured our approach has been recognised by the FT 1000 rankings.”

The award is the latest accolade for the highly regarded firm. In 2017, LegalVision not only won NewLaw Firm of the Year at the Australian Law Awards, it also won Customer Service Experience of the Year at the Optus Business Awards and ranked 9th in SmartCompany’s Smart50 Awards.

“It’s exciting to now be the fastest growing law firm in the Asia-Pacific, but it’s important not to become complacent,” said McKnight. “We have big plans in 2018, and we’re keen to kick off the year as a major earner and disruptor.”
