As a vendor you are obliged to refund an item purchased from you as reasonably requested by the customer. Depending on whether or not there is a major failure, alternatives to providing a refund is providing a replacement or repair. ‘Major failures’ in relation to the supply of goods and services are set out in sections 260 and 268 of the Australian Consumer Law.
