Question: How do I label my food products correctly?
Answer:If your products or parts of your products are manufactured or grown overseas you need to clearly state this on the food labelling. Different phrases correspond to different meanings. ‘Product of’ and ‘Grown in’ means that each main ingredient was processed or grown in the country stated on the label. ‘Made of’ means that the product was made in the country stated and that at least 50% of the cost to produce the product was sustained in the country stated. However, this doesn’t necessarily mean the ingredients were grown or processed in that country. Make sure your business uses the correct phrasing to identify food products clearly.
