LegalVision members now have access to a new trade mark monitoring tool within their Prism account. The trade mark tool, which is integrated with IP Australia’s database, allows business owners and brand managers to easily manage their trade mark portfolio and monitor competitors’ trade marks.

Our trade mark module now makes it easy to:

  • view and manage your trade mark portfolio;
  • search Australia’s national trade mark database to see what trade marks are being filed in your industry;
  • flag and create reports for trade marks that you want to monitor; and
  • keep an eye on competitors’ trade marks and be notified about key events.

In the module, you can readily view your trade mark applications and registered trade marks. If you registered your trade mark through LegalVision, it should automatically appear in Prism. You can also request to import trade marks if they’ve been registered outside LegalVision. You can see the registered classes, key dates including renewal, copies of certificates of registration, and any email correspondence regarding that trade mark.

In the TM Explorer tab, you can set up alerts to monitor third party trade marks. This may be useful if a competitor is looking to register a similar trade mark, or is lodging an application that blocks the acceptance of your own application. You can set up notifications to email you if the status changes, including if it lapses or becomes open to opposition.

You can also create, access and review reports that have been automatically run based on your saved searches, as well as monitor trade mark filing activities from competitors.

As a LegalVision member, you can log in to Prism now to view all the features. If you are looking to register a trade mark, sign up to LVConnect Pro and our team can assist you with registering unlimited domestic trade marks.
