Question: Can I use images I find online under fair dealing?Answer:
Not necessarily. Just because an image is placed online does not mean it falls under a fair dealing exception. The exceptions are set out in the Copyright Act 1968 (Cth) and allow people to use images for certain purposes without having to receive permission or licenses. These include educational purposes, criticism of work, where the material is no longer protected by copyright and for the purposes of satire.
